Inauguration 2009 - Sunday, January 18th

We had to catch a flight out of Pensacola at 6.00am. Our 10.30am flight had been cancelled and we were put on the earlier flight. Had to leave Destin at 3.30am to get checked in and through security. Fun. Fun. Even at 3.00am Angela is so excited. She's like the kids going to Disney World!

We arrived in Charlotte to snow early in the morning. Dressed in layers to prepare for it getting colder and colder.

We had a long lay over, so we went over to Angela's sister's place to visit and rest. Had a great lunch with her and their friend Joe Kondovski at Joey's Deli. Nice soup and sandwich.

Our flight to DC was scheduled for 2.37pm eastern time. Got to the gate early of course, and wow, the energy in the people at the gate was amazing. The excitement level is rising. We met our first celebrity. We had a really fun conversation with comedian Ricky Smiley. Really sharp, really fun guy. Check out is web site and wikipedia info.

Nice flight to DC. We flew into Ronald Reagan. Flew right in over the Mall and the Lincoln Memorial. The free concert was going on. It was amazing to see hundreds of thousands of people taking pictures. We could see all the flashes from the air.

Everyone is incredibly excited. Everyone we meet, sit next to, stand next to wants to talk about the event. The energy of almost every person starting at the airport is amazing. You can see how excited Angela is to be here.

We decided to take the Metro rather than catch a cab. We just wanted to go through the experience and suck in more of the energy. Wow! Every town/city needs public transportation like this. It's so much easier to get around. We pulled 3 bags and had no problem getting from the airport to Chris Lafon's apartment on Massachusetts Ave. He lives just two blocks from the capital!

There are venders everywhere selling Obama stuff. There are lots of people, but it's not opppressively crowded. Just fun with lots of energy.
